A town on the edge of two regions
Rincón de la Victoria sits right at the point where Málaga's urban sprawl gives way to the Axarquía, close enough to the city that many residents commute in daily. It has its own seafront, a growing population and notable local features like the Cueva del Tesoro, one of the few known marine-origin caves in Europe.
Its position east of Málaga, rather than west towards Fuengirola, is the key fact for anyone planning a visit: the journey means going through or around the city, not along the coast directly.
Two ways to make the journey
By car, the MA-20 ring road lets drivers skirt the busiest parts of central Málaga before joining the A-7 west towards Fuengirola, generally the quicker option outside rush hour.
By train, the journey requires two lines: the C-2 from Rincón de la Victoria into Málaga Centro-Alameda, then a change onto the C-1 line, which continues through the airport, Torremolinos and Benalmádena before reaching Fuengirola. It's a workable route, but allow time for the change and the full length of both legs.
Planning around the distance
Given that the trip takes the best part of an hour either way, most members from Rincón de la Victoria treat a visit as a planned outing, sometimes combined with time in Málaga city itself on the way through.
