Mijas is a municipality in three parts: the whitewashed pueblo in the hills, the sprawling residential district of Las Lagunas, and the coastal strip of Mijas Costa. All three of them border Fuengirola, and for most residents the nearest private cannabis social club is in Fuengirola rather than in their own municipality.
Getting to the club from Mijas
Las Lagunas runs straight into Fuengirola — for many streets it is a 5 to 10 minute drive, and the M-series local buses connect the two continuously. Mijas Pueblo is around 8 km uphill, roughly 15 minutes by car or a direct bus down the A-387.
About Mijas
- Las Lagunas is the everyday, working part of the municipality: supermarkets, the Miramar shopping centre nearby, and a large mixed Spanish and international population.
- Mijas Pueblo is the postcard village above the coast, with the mirador, the burro taxis and views across the bay to Fuengirola.
- There is no Cercanías station inside Mijas municipality, so Fuengirola station acts as the local rail hub for the whole area.
