Understand the line before planning your day
The C-1 runs between Fuengirola and Málaga Centro-Alameda, with Fuengirola at its western end. From Fuengirola, trains heading towards Málaga serve coastal neighbourhoods before turning towards the airport and city. There is no westbound train from Fuengirola towards Marbella, even though a map of the coastline can make that seem like a natural continuation.
Treat the railway as a chain of station areas rather than a service to every beach and town centre. A destination described as being in Benalmádena or Torremolinos may still involve a substantial walk or local connection. For a wider picture of the places around the club, the locations overview can help you distinguish neighbouring areas before checking your actual station-to-destination route.
Choose the station that matches your destination
Fuengirola station serves the town centre, while Los Boliches is a separate stop further east within Fuengirola. They are not interchangeable names for the same arrival point. Check your destination against both stations before travelling; getting off at the first familiar name can create an unnecessary walk. Neither station should be assumed to be the right one for a private appointment without knowing its location.
For central Arroyo de la Miel, the station name to look for is Benalmádena-Arroyo de la Miel. That is not a marina-side stop, nor does it put you in Benalmádena Pueblo. Torremolinos station serves the town centre rather than the beachfront, so allow for the change in level when planning a walk to the sea. Our Benalmádena to Fuengirola transport guide covers that particular journey in more detail.
Use the right Málaga stop for the airport or city
Aeropuerto is the C-1 stop for Málaga Airport, so a journey from Fuengirola does not require changing trains in Málaga city first. Check the departure information for your travel date and work backwards from the time you need to be inside the terminal. The train journey is only one part of an airport trip: reaching your departure station and moving from the airport platform to the terminal also take time.
Málaga María Zambrano is the useful stop for onward mainline rail connections, while Málaga Centro-Alameda is the C-1 terminus and a convenient starting point for walking into the city centre. If you have a reserved onward train, allow time to leave the Cercanías platforms and find the correct departure area. Choosing between these two Málaga stops is more useful than simply searching for a train to ‘Málaga’.
Know where you will need a bus or taxi
Mijas needs a little care as a destination name. Mijas Pueblo is inland, while Mijas Costa covers coastal areas rather than one compact town centre. Neither has a C-1 station. La Cala de Mijas also requires onward travel by road. When checking a connection, enter the specific neighbourhood or destination instead of relying on the broad label ‘Mijas’.
Marbella is beyond the western end of the railway. Coming from Málaga or Torremolinos, you can use the C-1 to reach Fuengirola, but the remaining journey needs a separate bus or taxi arrangement. Check where that onward service departs, its current timetable and the transfer walk. A train arrival time is not automatically a workable bus connection, particularly when you are unfamiliar with the interchange.
Check the day's service and your final walking route
Use Renfe’s current Cercanías Málaga information to check departures, service notices and the last suitable return train for your date. Avoid building an evening around an old timetable screenshot. At the station, confirm the destination on the departure display, check the ticket requirements for your journey and keep your ticket available until you have left the railway. If you need step-free access, verify facilities at both ends rather than assuming every station has the same layout.
If your journey includes Weed Club Fuengirola, it is a private members’ association, not a walk-in shop. Contact the club on WhatsApp through the contact page before setting off; the address is shared privately once you are in contact. With the location confirmed, you can choose the appropriate station and check the final walk instead of guessing from the club’s name.
