If you are staying near the marina or beach, getting to the railway may take more effort than the train journey itself. From the Pueblo, you will generally need a connecting journey to reach the coastal transport corridor. Taking the C1 train to Fuengirola
The Cercanías C1 line connects Málaga and Fuengirola, passing through Torremolinos and Benalmádena along the way. Los Boliches and the central Fuengirola terminus are different arrival options. Neither should be assumed to be the right stop for every destination, so compare your onward walk before boarding and keep your ticket handy throughout the journey.
Choosing the bus from the coast
A coastal bus can be a practical alternative if you are starting in Benalmádena Costa and would otherwise need to travel uphill to the train. Look for a service towards Fuengirola, checking the exact boarding stop and direction rather than relying only on a nearby bus-stop sign. Some stops serve several routes, and not every westbound bus will match your plans.
Use the current information from the transport operator or the Málaga metropolitan transport consortium to confirm the route, timetable and payment arrangements. A taxi is worth considering when you are leaving from Benalmádena Pueblo, carrying bags or travelling with someone who finds station access and longer walks difficult. It can also simplify a journey from accommodation away from the main transport routes. Use an authorised taxi rank or a recognised booking service, and provide a precise destination rather than just asking for Fuengirola.
The cost and journey time depend on your starting point, destination, traffic and the applicable tariff. Ask how the fare will be calculated and confirm your preferred payment method before travelling. For a group, compare the total cost with public transport rather than assuming either option will automatically be cheaper.
Arriving in Fuengirola and exploring farther
Once you arrive, central Fuengirola and Los Boliches both offer opportunities to continue on foot, depending on your destination and mobility needs. Check walking directions rather than judging distances from the coastline alone: a place described as being in Fuengirola may still be some distance from your chosen station. In warmer weather, leave room for a slower walk and a water break.
If your day includes Mijas, be clear whether you mean the inland village or Mijas Costa. La Cala de Mijas lies farther west along the coast, with Marbella beyond it, and the C1 railway ends at Fuengirola rather than continuing to those destinations. Treat any onward bus or taxi journey as a separate part of your plan, with its own route and return arrangements.
Plan the final stretch and your return
